The Munson Family

Sorry for going so long without an update but its been a little crazy here… Long story short Dan’s 1SG found out about the situation and made some calls to see what was going on and what needed to be done. Apparently, the office here in DC didn’t have a problem with the family moving with him but the command in Germany did. So 1SG Ambersley is going to delete the orders and we’ll be staying here for a couple of years. (hopefully)

Well there ya have it.. just another story  in our Army adventure!

Last week Dan was awarded the Army Commendation Award at Walter Reed Army Medical Center for the great work he is doing over there . I’m so very proud of him! One more ribbon to put on his uniform…

We went to Six Flags this week and we took some pics of the girls… (long post coming soon on our experience at SixFlags America)

I am very proud to announce that Dan passed his promotion board today and is now SPC-Promotable ! So very soon he will be SGT Munson! He has worked very hard over the last several weeks studying for it! : )

We just have to wait for the list to come out to see if he made it for September or if it will be October.

Well might be moving to Germany and we might not! LOL Clear as mud right? Well last week we received word that his orders were in but they were for unaccompanied 2 year tour in Germany (only Dan would go). Then we were told that his MSG was going to fill out a form to get his orders cancelled and keep him here in DC. We thought ok great we’re not going.. no big deal! WRONG!

Today Dan was talking to the 1SG and he said that he heard about the situation and made some phone calls along with the MSG … and they were told it is an accompanied tour and that all of us were eligible to go. So they are trying to figure out what is going on right now! According to Dan, there is a 98% chance that we will be leaving for Germany next month.

I’ll let you know more when we found out…

I bet I know what you are wondering?? Did they drop off of the face of the planet? or Maybe did they move already and nobody told me?

Well I’m happy to report that none of the above are true! We’ve been so busy with kids stuff (physicals, sports, back to school things), getting ready for our move to Germany and of course Dan prepping for his promotion board review.

Things are moving along for our move to Germany… we don’t have official orders yet but I keep hearing that we will have them soon. We don’t move for at least another 8 weeks so that is a LONG time according to the Army’s timetable.

As I’m sure all of you have heard about the 35E bridge in Minnesota that collapsed… I’m very happy and relieved that all of our family and friends were spared.  We have been watching the tv coverage of it on Fox and MSNBC and we can’t believe our eyes. Please keep praying for those that are affected by it.

It’s been 2 1/2 years since we have been home to Minnesota  and I can’t even imagine not having the bridge there. It just blows your mind to think the number of times we’ve been over that bridge going to that area of the Twin Cities.
