As a military spouse, you are challenged to find a new job every time you relocate. A career as a medical transcriptionist (MT) makes it possible to retain employment, no matter where you transfer. In the technology-driven industry of health-care documentation, medical transcription has no boundaries. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), many medical transcriptionists telecommute from home-based offices as employees or subcontractors for hospitals and transcription services or as self-employed, independent contractors. The 3rd Option

January 22, 2007 By: Household6 Category: Tammy, This and That, working from home 4 Comments →

I was over at the Because Mom said so blog and i was reading Carrie’s post about Mommy Wars. It went on to talk about how the big “debate” right now is whether to have to choose either “working” or “raising a family” and even how Oprah is jumping on the bandwagon.

Do we really have to choose? The answer to that question is quite simple…NO! I have been doing just that for many years as a work at home mom. I’ve been running my business and raising my 2 daughters with the help and loving support of my husband. There are lots of other women who do the same. In fact of all the billions of small businesses that we have in the United States, that over 20 percent of them are run from the home.

When you hear about the debate on the mainstream media, what you don’t hear about is the 3rd option or alternative? The work from home option! Why do you say? Because for those who are giving us the “news” aren’t giving us resources in order to make it happen for those women .. they are more concerned with sensationalizing the topic.

In our military lifestyle that we live it is especially hard to have a career, but thats why the work at home option is so popular among so many military spouses. In our family, it has been my saving grace sometimes when my husband is gone for long periods of time. The busy work that i have to do for my customers/clients keeps my mind off of what my husband is doing or where he is at .

If you are looking to work from home or currently have a work at home business… you definitely want to check out the Work at Home Expo! You can find out more information at http://www.businessandlearning.com
