Wow haven’t blogged in over a week … but I have a really good excuse! Our family took a trip down to Orlando and spent a week in Disney.
Considering this was the first BIG family vacation we’ve had in 3 years (thanks to PCS moves and a deployment) we all were really looking forward to it. We really needed some relaxing and quality family time.
We had an awesome time! I’ve had several trips to Disney World as a kid and as an adult — I have to say they know how to do it right! They think of everything.
This time we stayed at the Coronado Springs Hotel (on the Disney grounds) and it was a fantastic place. We really loved it. I wasn’t that crazy about the location of our room — next to a swamp. It brought out the bugs, crickets, baby frogs and other “creatures”
One night we were walking to get something to eat, and I saw some big (like raccoon sized ) crawl out of the water on the grass by the rooms) . Needless to say I didn’t wait around to find out exactly what it was and we never saw it again. All in all — it was a great time at the Coronado!
One thing I have to say is about the Shades of Green. We stopped by the hotel to check it out and see what it was all about. I have to say I wasn’t all that impressed by it. I don’t know if I’ve gotten spoiled by all the nicer hotels I’ve stayed at while at Disney but I certainly didn’t see anything at SOG that made me want to stay there. (maybe I’m just a hotel snob )
The amenities at SOG were seriously lacking compared to the other WDW resort hotels. There was only 1 bus that came every 30 min to take you to the main transportation center. Most other hotels had multiple buses arriving every 15 min. that took you straight to your destination.
Anyway — we had a fantastic time and are very happy to be home! (especially the dogs) If you follow me on Facebook there are pictures up there. I’ll be posting some on Flickr and here on the blog in the next few days.

That is good to know about SOG.
as an oc local we go to disneyland all the time, but we’ve never been to disney world. we definitely need to head that way!
