Weekend of fun… the aftermath

by Tammy on November 3, 2008

Ah its FINALLY Monday morning! Yes I know usually I’m dreading Mondays but after the full weekend we’ve had you would be glad it was Monday too!  : )

Halloween arrived with the usual chaotic mess.. kids ready to leave, parents weren’t.  : ) I guess I”m a “mean mommy” because I actually expected my kids to eat before they left the house. My kids didn’t agree with that philosophy so much. Any way, we had fun and the kids got way more candy than they should have!

The biggest hit of the night was the new game we bought for the Xbox 360… Disney’s Sing It! Now we’ve had both Rockband and Guitar Hero but this one was a lot of fun for the kids! Even some of the neighborhood adults got into the fun. It was funny seeing kids and adults rocking out to High School Musical, Hannah Montana & Camp Rock songs! : ) (video coming soon… pics can be seen here )

On Saturday night , we finally had Beck’s birthday party.. it was re-scheduled due to illness. It was a slumber party no less.  We ended up having about 5 kids here. (which was fine with SGT Daddy) We did crafts, played more Disney’s Sing It! (of course) and did makeovers.

Yes I was brave and let a bunch of 7 year olds do my makeover. (what I don’t do for my kids) It wasn’t too bad and I actually came out alive and unharmed ; ) The girls had a great time and finally “passed out” around midnight.

Apparently there was too much “partying” going on, because Beck was sick the next morning. So we just hung out at home pretty much all day and did nothing. Well , we did play Sing It! for a bit . I think I’m on my way to being addicted to that game… I LOVE IT! : )

Most of the weekend was a fun time except for Saturday afternoon when I found out some sad news about some of my extended family members (mother’s side) concerning alcohol and drugs. Prayers for them would be greatly appreciated.

I can’t believe we have 3 weeks to go and then we are Colorado-bound.. I’m excited yet nervous at the same time. Do any of you ever feel that way? I want to know how all of you deal with that.Leave a comment below and share your “tips”

Tammy,
I know I’ve talked about it on Twitter but I am also excited and nervous, and sad!
We have been lucky enough to be at our first duty station after 12 1/2 years for me, 13 for hubby. I’m so grateful for that, but so nervous about moving. I’m very happy it’s to somewhere as beautiful as Savannah and I will be back near the ocean. It’s also very stressful to be buying a home and will be sure to pass along all of those tips after we close on a house.
I’m sad to be leaving here and leaving my friends and an area I know so well. This is the longest my husband and I have ever lived in any one town in our entire lives (I’m 34, he’s 31).
What I’m really nervous about is next Spring, when the husband will take over a company. I’m not sure how I will do as the first sergeant’s wife and that scares me! I’m a helpful person but I don’t deal well with bullshit so we’ll see!
Can’t wait to follow you along as you move! Look forward to learning all of your “tips”!

Erin

I’m sure you’ll do really well as the 1SG’s wife! Hey maybe that’s what some of them need is the non -BS! You know tell them how it really is??

I’m always a little nervous moving to a new place, meeting new people yet its always exciting too. I”m mostly nervous about the many training TDY’s and impending deployment that I know that is right around the corner.

Look at it this way. It’s an opportunity for new friends & sights! I had a good buddy stationed where you’re going. He, his wife, and kids, all loved it! I know you will. So put those pangs of nervousness aside and enjoy the ride. Moving alone, if even one block, is stressful enough. Do touristy things with your loved ones in the areas in which you live. You’ll be surprised at all the fun you’ll have. Go with a sense of adventure in your heart and share it with the kids…they’ll feed off it. Make it fun, Mom… and in doing so, it will make it fun for you.

Sounds like a fun filled weekend. Bummer Beck woke up sick the next morning. I’d say you are pretty darn brave letting a bunch of young girls do your make-up! The things we do for our kids :-)

I don’t know about your girls but Caleb got sooooo much candy for Halloween this year. He’s always gotten a lot but this year was way more than usual. I’ve started throwing some out here, some out there….LOL.
